Formed in 1959 by local residents intent on providing aquatic safety to the public on a challenging Sydney beach; South Maroubra in 2023 has developed into a diverse community club providing a wonderful welcoming, safe experience and environment, building on the values first established many years ago and still entirely run by volunteers. Providing a water safety program to the largest nipper community in Australia with over 1100 children, we also deliver a diverse Lifesaving, Competition and mature age member Fitness Programs whilst also providing our facilities and services to other emergency services, sporting, education and importantly regional indigenous groups, specifically Clontarf Foundation. Our club is well known and respected for its hard work in maintaining our club and also for welcoming the wider community in a social environment on weekends. We are often described as a ‘family club’ located in a ‘touch of the country, within the middle of the city’. We appreciate any support!
