Clifton Beach is a two kilometre long beach South of Tasmania that nestles between Cape Deslacs to the north and a large headland and cliffs to the south. It faces South East out into Storm and Fredrick Henry Bays which receives constant swells and weather from the Southern Ocean. This has created a tricky and even dangerous surf/beach environment, where novices and skilled enthusiasts alike can get into trouble when large gutters, rips, and surf frequent the beach. Water temperatures range from about 8 degrees midwinter to 20 over peak summer. Clifton Beach SLSC was established during the summer of 1963 when surfing, surf life saving and the beach lifestyle was experiencing great popularity. Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club's core focus is to provide a lifesaving patrol service to the community and beach users of Clifton Beach throughout the summer months. In addition to our patrolling services, nippers, and senior surf sports programs, we provide water safety at various community events including the Seafarers Festival and Triathlon Events.
